Baima Longtan Temple is located at the foot of Lion Mountain at the southern end of Lijiang ancient city. Baimalongtan, also known as Bailongtan or Lion Ruquan, is a clear and sweet spring water. Water gushed from the rocks, ancient trees shaded by the pool, and fish leaped in the pool, which was regarded as a divine spring by the people of Naxi. The Baima Longtan Temple by the pool was built in 1754 A.D. during the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. It was destroyed during the war in Xianfeng and rebuilt in 1882. The existing buildings such as mountain gates, halls and left chambers are still in scale and layout.
