The Maba Ren Site (including Shixia Site) is located 3 kilometers southwest of Maba Town, Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. It is two limestone peaks, looking like a lion in the volley (the north mountain is the lion head, the south mountain is the lion tail). The mountain has crisscrossing caves. In 1958, when farmers in Maba Commune dug the accumulation in the second layer of caves north of Lion Rock Liontou Mountain for fertilizer, fossils of ancient human skulls and ancient vertebrate fossils were found in a crack. According to relevant experts, they were early types of human fossils that were identified as Homo erectus transitioning to Homo sapiens. The Maba people are named. The brain capacity of the Maba people is estimated to exceed that of the Beijing people, and it has the progressive nature of Homo sapiens. Classification is attributed to the early Homo sapiens, which represents the important link of Homo erectus to the early Homo sapiens.
