Manchester Art Gallery Review

Interesting mix of classical and contemporary pieces to consider. A good couple of hours spent here. Well worth visiting for the collection in general rather than any specific items.

After many years, I came to the Manchester Art Museum again, and the sculptures hanging on the stairs immediately pulled me back to my student days. Other art works have been unclear, but this hanging black mesh body has been printed in my mind. This time, I noticed a small Chinese exhibition about the changes in the lives of Chinese immigrants from all over the UK after World War II. The description part mentioned: China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan...Later I discussed this with my British friends and came to a conclusion that many non-Mainland Chinese abroad really do not recognize their Chinese identity. Given the relationship between the UK and Hong Kong, locals have only helped, and Chinese who emigrated decades ago would not have much of a sense of identity about the one-China policy.

One afternoon, I fell in love with the exhibits in the Manchester Art Museum. The current theme of the exhibits is that when I saw the exhibition in the Qing Dynasty, I met the tutor of the Chinese culture and history major of the University of Manchester. One by one, he could also read the Chinese on the cultural relics. Pronunciation is extremely standard (he occasionally comes to explain, generally need to make an appointment in advance, it is my lucky to bump into him today)
