[Maotianshan National Address Park] is located near Maotian Mountain, Chengjiang County, Yunnan, 8 kilometers away from Chengjiang County and about 60 kilometers away from Kunming. On July 1, 1984, Chinese scholar Hou Xianguang first discovered the complete preserved fossils of early Cambrian paleobiology here. After the examination and research of paleontologists, the magnificent landscape of marine life and the original characteristics of living animals vividly reproduced 1 billion years ago, providing precious evidence for the study of the early continuation of the Earth for 53.7 million years of the origin, evolution, ecology and other theories of life. The research and discovery of Chengjiang paleobiota not only provided scientific facts for the nonlinear sudden evolution of Cambrian life bursts, but also posed a major challenge to Darwin's gradient evolution theory. Chengjiang Palaeontological Group covers 16 categories and more than 200 species fossils (as of 2012). On July 1, 2012, Chengjiang fossil sites were officially listed on the World Heritage List.
