Regensburg is a beautiful ancient capital on the Danube, 140 km north of Munich. It has a long history and has been an important town along the Danube since Roman times. This stone bridge on the Danube has a simple appearance but a remarkable history. The stone bridge, built in 1135 and completed in 1146, has been baptized by wind and rain for nearly 900 years, and for a long time, is the only bridge across the Danube, which played a decisive role in the development of Regensburg in the Middle Ages. Its solid, practical and elegant low-key exterior also serves as a model for many stone bridges. The historic city center of Regensburg is intact and is the largest medieval old city in Germany. Regensburg is also the largest number of Italian-style family towers north of the Alps, hence the name "the northernmost city of Italy". More than a thousand historic buildings in Regensburg are specially protected, and the Old Town of Regensburg was selected as a World Heritage Site in 2006. The cathedral in the old town, the various brick-red houses around the church, constitute an ancient landscape, especially the market across the Danube River, the antique atmosphere is breathtaking.
