You'll find the largest collection of Russian art here, and most of this belonged to Pavel Tretyakov. In 1892 Tretyakov donated his collection of art to the Russian people (so much for the evil capitalists, right? He gave away his art collection to the Russian people for free. What did Lenin, Stalin, Brezhnev et al donate to the Russian people for free?). When the hateful bolshevik communists shot there way to power in Russia, they took poor Pavel's statue down, but after Russia was liberated from communist tyranny, the new government restored Pavel's statue to its rightful place in front of the fantastic Tretyakov Gallery.
