National Botanical Garden (UNITED STATES BOTANIC GARDEN) http://www.usbg.gov/Opening Time: 10:00-5:30 a.m. per day with Chinese-language tourist guides located adjacent to the Neighbouring Congress Building. After Washington was elected the first president of the United States in 1789, it was suggested that a botanical garden be built in the capital to show the importance of plants and gardening in economy and life. In 1820, Congress passed legislation to approve the establishment of the National Botanical Garden. Now the botanical garden is composed of the National Garden, the Greenhouse of the Giant National Botanical Garden and Bartoldi Park, covering 180 hectares. The Botanical Garden Hall displays many impressive models of famous Washington buildings, such as the Parliament Building, the Lincoln Memorial Hall, the National Library, etc. It is exquisite to carefully observe the production of plant stems, leaves, bark and seeds. Workers are explaining to children the characteristics and functions of leaves and petals of various plants, instructing them to color and fold on white paper cut into leaves and petals, and to make leaves and petals of different types of plants. The botanical garden greenhouse is warm and humid with mist. Visitors experience the beauty of plants through sight, smell, hearing and touch. Tall green-leafed plants are lush, some of them have gorgeous and colorful flowers, some of them have tiny seeds, and some of their branches are covered with peculiar fruits. Insect-eating plants make us marvel at the amazing adaptability of plants. Since the Jurassic period, the Botanical Garden has reproduced 150 million years of flowerless plant population and historically valuable ferns (FERNS), cycads (CYCADS) plants. The plants on display are labeled, including the popular names of plants, botanical names, plant families, original discoveries and current planting areas. Some signs also have telephone numbers, so you can hear more information when you dial them. Some have multiple bits, which can be scanned and accessed to the relevant web pages. There was an activity in the greenhouse that day to explain the conditions and process of seed germination of all kinds of plants, and to make plant necklaces under the guidance of staff. Workers instruct tourists to put a seed on the wet circular cotton paper, fold it in half, put it in a small plastic bag, blow, fold it up, and then put a rope through the bag to become a plant necklace. Tourists are happy to hang it on their chest. Workers said that every day to open, watering, careful observation of seed germination. Outdoor National Garden has more than 12,000 square meters, large green lawns, far away is the dome of the magnificent Capitol Building. It was early winter when we went. The sun was shining and there were many people sunning on the lawn. We visited for two hours.
