Pearl Harbor is easily the most historically significant location in the Hawaiian island chain. Some of the best known vessels to partake in the action during World War II can be found here. The USS Arizona, the USS Oklahoma, and the USS Missouri may get all the attention, but it's the USS Bowfin that seems to have had the biggest direct effect on the outcome of this conflict. The Bowfin was one of the deadliest subs in the pacific fleet, racking up enough kills to plaster a portion of the hull with kill markers almost to the point of running out of room. For a small fee guests are invited to tour the hull and interior of this complex piece of machinery. Additionally, there are a number of torpedoes and informational displays along the waterfront near the Bowfin which help illustrate the significant contributions that not only the Bowfin, but all the US submarines (including the more than 50 subs lost) made toward ensuring freedom survived this dark chapter of humanity.
