The old site of the New Fourth Army Military Headquarters, located in Jingxian County, Xuancheng, Anhui Province, was built in 1915. It is the residence of Zhang Xun, a warlord of the North Ocean. There are two brick and wood buildings and a bungalow, which belong to the ancient buildings of the combination of Chinese and Western. On January 6, 1938, the New Fourth Army stationed here and completed the arduous task of forming the New Fourth Army. The New Fourth Army, composed of guerrilla fighters of the Red Army of eight provinces, went out of the old mountains and forests, on its way north to resist Japan, became the mainstay of the anti-Japanese campaign in central China and established an immortal meritorious service for the cause of the liberation of the Chinese nation. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit and one of the eight important historical sites in modern China.
