Prive249 Review

Privé249 is located in Sofitel Brisbane Central | 249 Turbot Street, Brisbane, Queensland 4000, Australia, this restaurant really surprised us a lot. We were staying in the hotel at the time, and it was a clean place with a noisy principle. There is a seafood buffet in the lobby of the hotel. Choose 3 dishes and match red wine. It is recommended to order a side dish in addition to the main dish if the couple comes to eat. It takes some time for the main dish to come up, but the steak tastes really good. And because the serving was delayed, the restaurant gave us a glass of red wine per person. The waiter was very warm and the service was thoughtful. The air conditioner is a bit cold, overall this is a good French restaurant, not an authentic French restaurant.

Booked here for dinner on a whim, and I was not disappointed. The menu, although limited, provides options for even the most discerning diner, and similarly presents a well rounded wine list that has multiple options for perfect matchings. I had a 3 course meal plus appetiser, with matching wines throughout. The waiter that was serving me had a fantastic wine knowledge, and was able to pair my dishes with 3 excellent wines despite my pickiness with it - I was very impressed. The portions are rather generous. I started with the Landaise salad (with duck, foie gras, and pancetta) and I felt that this was way too big of a dish for a starter, and also just too messy on the plate in terms of presentation; the flavours however, were superb, and was some of the best duck I have had. The main and the dessert were equally impressive. The 4 courses, plus 3 glasses of wine came to $165.

We finished our meal with a latte coffee at four, both perfect and excellent service. Nice to have a nice meal in an elegant place, but the atmosphere was still relaxed! I ordered scallops, my friend ordered seafood pasta, it tasted great, and we were free to choose the main course and dessert.

The staff is very friendly and the taste of the food is superb. Orders for drinks and meals are always delivered in time, the waiters will come here, welcome you, and then let you sit in time, overall, the food and service here are particularly satisfying for you.

I suggest not to try the buffet here, it will be more cost-effective to order directly. I ordered lobster and steak, which are very delicious, you must try it, the service is also very good, this restaurant is really great.
