Jimmy T's Place Review

The itinerary is just empty in the morning, so I will try their American breakfast. The pancakes taste good, and toast. The standard American breakfast. The American coffee is very refreshing and the price is relatively close to the people.

Twice a week in DC with my two sons 10, 11 and wife. Food was good, especially pancakes. Service was always friendly as DC's place was cheap. When you see the police eating there, you know you are in a good breakfast location. Not the best breakfast we had, but the combination of cheap food and friendly service gave it 5. My sons asked to go back so we went again and my eldest son had pancakes and a bowl of oatmeal. Oatmeal was good. Warned to close on Monday.

Most of the breakfast menu complete with a large brunch menu, expensive omelet bottoms with less wine. It may be fun, but sometimes you just want some eggs, bacon, coffee and a low-key atmosphere. If that’s what you want, then Jimmy T is the best in town. Completely conform to your own rules (don’t sit on a table that has been vacated but not yet cleaned up.). Staff won’t clean up the table for you or serve you or explain anything. Follow the rules! Some people are subdued by that weird atmosphere but I love it! Food is solid some of the best: Cheddar Mexican quail is terrible! Bacon and eggs are first class. Coffee is the quality of the diner: good, not so good.

After watching Jimmy T's story on Google, we decided to try breakfast after checking out. We checked the early beat Sunday crowd, there was about 8:30. The menu was great, I got 1/2 waffles, an egg and 2 bacon Barry, got 2 scrambled eggs, bacon and toast, we all had coffee. Our check was $14. The food was hot and fresh and fast and good. We will be back.

I have been at Jimmy's house for 25 years. It is one of the few old-fashioned breakfast restaurants in DC. Cindy, owner/short order chef, makes everyone feel like they are part of the family. Breakfast is the main food here, but if you want lunch, burgers and grilled cheese are good.
