The Manchester Review

Ambiance is good. People are good. Staff is friendly and definitely a place to be during the weekends. They have one of the best live acoustic nights with several artists playing from Thursdays to Friday! This is where we always start the weekend and its totally worth it! The drinks are priced okay compared to other places and the food tastes very good as well!

I was looking for somewhere in Colombo with a bit of atmosphere to watch the final rounds of the 20/20 cricket. I picked The Manchester from the limited offerings in Colombo which turned out to be an inspired choice. They have a huge screen for major sporting events. It is a very well run bar popular with sports minded expats and Sri Lankans alike. The floor to ceiling windows on the southern side look straight over the sports complex ovals. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff efficient. They have Lion and Carlsberg on tap and served cold into chilled glasses. The usual range of cocktails and mixed drinks. It is attached to the Agra Indian restaurant and is a little difficult to find without Google maps but it is well worth persevering. I learnt more about Sri Lanka and Colombo from a few nights chatting with the locals than a week with a laptop. Great place for a few relaxing cold ones or a night out with a group. They have live entertainment during the week too.
