Add this to your itinerary! If you come when the garden opens/closes, it's less crowded and much more relaxed (although it's so green and tranquil that it's hard not to be relaxed). Give yourself ample time to amble about the grounds. I suspect you'll be taking a lot of photos here. Walking about, I envision movie backdrops here as if I'm a location scout. Parque Lage is nearby -- plan on visiting that too!
We loved this botanical garden! This was our first trip to South America, so this garden was perfect to see loads of tropical trees, plants, flowers and nature life from the area. There are many picturesque spots with pagodas, statues, waterfalls, and ponds. We saw so many women have photoshoots here -- mostly maternity shots! There are tropical birds too and even a distant view of Christ the Redeemer.
It is a most beautiful garden and from there, there is a trail to go all the way up to the concrete Christ!
If you love the nature, you'll love the Botanical Garden.
These verdant botanical gardens are home to more than 6000 plant species, and provide a fine intro to the rich flora of Rio and Brazil. Planted back in the early 1800s, the gardens have scenic paths that wind through towering royal palms, past Amazonian flora, gurgling fountains, an orchid conservatory and a scenic lake. There are also abundant bird species — more than 100 at last count. Come during the week, and you'll have the gardens largely to yourself; while weekends bring local families and a festive air.
Unmissable! Walk through the forest green and has encounters with monkeys, toucans and other birds in our beautiful wildlife. If you get hungry, stop at the cafeteria that exists within the park and enjoy a snack in exellent atmosphere around centennial trees. The park entrance 200 meters from this property! Do not miss!
This botanical garden is one of the best I've ever seen. A huge expansive area of interesting tropical plans as well as several small animal sightings. The garden has many themed areas including a small Japanese tea garden. There is also a distant view of Christ the redeemer.
