Andrea and crew recently took over this legendary bar in Trastevere. It sits right on Piazza San Cosimato, one of the last truly Roman Neighborhoods in the city. In the morning, its' a typical Italian bar with top notch coffee and cappuccino and great cornetti and pastries. It is always filled with locals grabbing breakfast on their way to work. Mid day, it serves a wide menu of pastas and home made sandwiches. At night, that is when this place comes to life. I cannot think of another place in Rome that combines outstanding artisanal drink mixology with an amazing pastry chef. Stop by before dinner for happy hour and grab a spritz. They will bring you an amazing plate of appetizers and snacks. Then walk to one of Trastevere's many restaurants--- a half dozen are on the square here. Eat your carbonara, pizza or lamb abbacchio, but skip desert and coffee. Walk back to the bar on the scenic piazza, grab a table outside and then really start your evening. After your coffee and mille foglie desert, make sure to order the signature Whiskey Sour or perhaps a Negroni alla Giuliano---one of the many talented bar tenders. If you are up for it, ask Abraham for his Tiki concoction. If you are a Bond fan (Spectre was filmed just up the road) make sure to order a Vesper. Whatever reviews you see, the new team has turned this place around. Give it a shot.
