Rugao

Rugao is situated in Jiangsu province in the north of the Yangtze River Delta region. The old town is surrounded by a river and was an important hub for trade and merchants. There are some excellent examples of Sui dynasty architecture including Dinghui Temple, which features a rare north-facing gate. There are also a number of Ming dynasty buildings, including a rare all-wooden Confucian temple and Shuihui Garden, a unique example of a traditional Hui-style garden.
