San Antonio Art Museum (East Asian Cultural Relics)
The museum is located in San Antonio, Texas. It was established in 1981 and is a relatively young museum. When the museum first opened, the main collections were folk art works from before Columbus discovered the American continent, from the Spanish American colonies, and from Latin America. In addition, there are 18th, 19th, and 20th century American and European paintings, photos, sculptures and Decorative art work.
Since 1985, due to the continuous donations of people, the scale of the museum has continued to expand, and the collection has continued to increase, and then the collection of art from Egypt, West Asia, Rome and China. The museum is now divided into American art, Asian art, European art, Latin American art, Pacific art, ancient Mediterranean art, etc., mainly including handicrafts, oil paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, furniture and decorations. There are many exhibits from East Asia in the museum, occupying an important position, mainly various Buddha sculptures, thangkas, ceramics, in addition, there are ancient bronzes, paintings, furniture and textiles.
