can't go wrong. I got the veggie combo (10,11,12). super filling for one person
We just love visiting this restaurant, and go every time we visit San Francisco. It's not fancy, by any means, and the decor looks more like a take away than a restaurant, but the service is always friendly, the food full of flavour and the prices cheap. We love to have the platter for two, which is massive, comes with a selection of Ethiopian dishes that you eat, using the flat breads provided to pick up your food. It's a large platter, and costs around $20 for two. On this visit, the waiter was genuinely enthusiastic about their food and their restaurant and was delighted that we were return visitors. They didn't disappoint, and we loved our meal, and will be sure to visit it on our next visit. Worth visiting, and definitely worth ordering the platter for two.
My husband and I tried out Axum based on previous reviews and we were so glad we did. Fantastic food at very reasonable prices, in a simple yet relaxed atmosphere. This was our first taste of Ethiopian food and we have been trying to find another restaurant that matches up to Axum ever since! If you are in the area and want to try something new, definitely give this place a go - you won't be disappointed!
get the veggie platter, which is the quintessential large plate of injera covered with several veggie options. if you're extra hungry, add the tibsi fish. i also get steamed milk with honey.
They have some interesting imported beers and I totally recommend the honey wine. If it's your first time eating ethiopian food, just let them know and they'll give you a crash course.
absolutely my fave ethiopian in the bay area. i get the vegetarian platter with the tibsie fish. i add on the beef dishes (both are great) if there are more than 3 people.
Try the veggie combo with chicken or fish. The BEST!!
Zighine kintishara and honey wine !
