I was meeting friends for drinks next door at the Tee Off Bar. I got there half an hour early so I figured I'd give this place a try. I was very surprised and I know sushi. The Ama Ebi was to perfection. The shari (sushi rice) was just right. The uni was fresh and delicious. The 'Itasan' is from Japan and took over the restaurant a year ago. I put this place up there with Shimo's a few blocks down. Good eats at a fair price for a sushi bar.
Had fun great Friday night hangout spot, finger food and izakaya food are great, skewers and small tapas
Nooo changed owners over the summer:( still great but not quite the same
heard Oyaji(Hideki san) is gone, but hoping the vibe is still there :)
I like the name "old man" . Finally we found authentic Japanese food.
Mediocre Izakaya and poor service, go to Izakaya Sozai instead.
Sizzling Oyaji beef, pork belly, aji sashimi are among my faves
Hand wrapped spicy scallop roll. Pure win.
We where on our way to Lands End by bike when we stopped at Oyaji for lunch with the kids. We did not expect too much but the food and friendliness of the staff was great. We had the Bento box which was very good value for money and tasted also very good. If you are in the neighborhood and fancy some great Japanese basic food you should consider Oyaji.
Ramen is super salty :(
