Sapporo Clock Tower Photos

The Clock Tower is a clock tower located in the center of Sapporo. It was built in 1878. It is the performance field of the Sapporo Agricultural School, the predecessor of Hokkaido University. It is also one of the few American-style buildings in Hokkaido that has survived to this day. Historical significance As a symbol of the introduction of Western education in Japan in the 19th century and the opening of Hokkaido, the bells of the clock tower continued for more than a hundred years and was designated as an important national cultural property of Japan. It has become one of the symbols of Sapporo, and The nearby old hall is also a landmark building in the center of Sapporo. Bell Tower Features This white wooden building has a simple style, showing its own unique interest under the combination of different backgrounds of the four seasons. Above the roof of the bell tower is a striking clock with four dials. There is a small exhibition about the history of the clock tower in the clock tower, and there is a platform for group photos in front of the clock tower.
