Highway 66 is the most famous highway in the US, the Mother Highway for Americans, thousands of kilometers. If you are driving around the US, be sure to experience it, even if it is only a short drive.
The tour stopped in Seligman and gave us some time to have a look around at only a small part of Route 66. We enjoyed the experience very much.
US Route 66 (Route 66) is affectionately called "Mother's Road" by Americans. The diagonal route 66 runs from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California. Route 66 length: 2448 miles (approximately 3939 kilometers) open to traffic: November 11, 1926-June 27, 1985, the scholar Michael Wallis who has studied Route 66 for more than 60 years said: "Route 66 To the American nation, it is like a bright mirror; it symbolizes the arduous journey of the great American people along the way.
Route 66 starts at Adams Street in Chicago and ends at Santa Monica Beach in Los Angeles. It traverses 8 states and covers 3950 kilometers. It was built in 1926 and completed in 1938. The Mother Road in the United States, which traverses the Paigne Desert, the Grand Canyon, and the meteor craters in Arizona, has unlimited scenery all the way, so it became the first choice for vacationers to Los Angeles in the 1950s. Later, due to the development of the times and the rise of interstate highways, the utilization rate decreased, and in 1985 it was formally deleted from the US national highway system. The current Route 66 is called "Historic Road No. 66". It has become a scenic road. You can see the number 66 sign and all kinds of classic cars everywhere, as if traveling back to the past. The road culture is vividly reflected. The highway carries the freedom and dreams of a generation. The picture was taken in the summer of 2019 on Route 66 in Seligman Arizona.
