The CAAC is one of the most important museums in Seville and Andalusia. Located in the Monastery of La Cartuja, the building alone is an authentic work of art, as it is a 15th century building that was recovered at the 1992 EXPO. It houses an important collection of contemporary art, with more than 3,200 works of art. The Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art (CAAC) is a museum dedicated to contemporary art based in the Monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, also known as La Cartuja, a space recovered for the Universal Exhibition of 1992. It constitutes one of the main spaces of Andalusia that host contemporary art, both continuously and through various temporary exhibitions. The museum has more than 3,200 works of art. Since 2014, its director is Juan Antonio Álvarez Reyes.
The CAC is located in the Monastery of La Cartuja, surrounded by lush gardens, patios, exhibition rooms ... If you want to fully understand the exhibition you are visiting, it is advisable to go with a guide. In El Centro they also carry out different activities, such as seminars, workshops, courses, book presentations ... It has a bar where you can have a drink on its terrace and rest before continuing.
