East China Normal University was founded on October 16, 1951, and is based on Daxia University (1924) and Guanghua University (1925). The campus has a beautiful environment and green trees. East China Normal University is known as the "garden school". The most romantic places on the campus are the Liwa River and Xiayu Island.
East China Normal University is a comprehensive research university organized by the state and headed by the Ministry of Education, which is a key joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The school was founded on October 16, 1951, on the basis of Daxia University (1924), Guanghua University (1925), and transferred to some departments of St. John's University, Fudan University, Tongji University and Zhejiang University, and was founded on the original site of Daxia University. In 2006, the main body of East China Normal University School was relocated to the Minhang campus, forming a pattern of "one school, two districts, linkage development". Since then, East China Normal University has officially settled in Minhang.
