The clock was shipped from England and set to East 8th District Time, Beijing Time, which was the first time Shanghai adopted the unified standard time.
The Customs Building on the Bund is one of the landmark buildings in the Bund. The customs building was first completed in 1893 and was constructed in 1925. This is also one of the few buildings built by the Chinese in the Bund complex. It is a palace-style structure with three-entry buildings with raised eaves and a mountain top. The big clock on the top of the building plays Dongfanghong music every hour, which is a special memory.
The modern buildings on the Bund are lined up along the west bank of Huangpu. Although they have their own characteristics, they are not easy to match for ordinary tourists because of their similar styles. However, the Shanghai Customs Building has a very obvious mark-the clock tower, which occupies a small area, but the height of the 11-story building stands out among the many buildings, especially at night, it is really eye-catching. The building used to be the headquarters of the "People's Security Team" before liberation. The outer wall has cultural relic nameplates and memorial reliefs, but it is currently an office organization and is not open to visitors. Because the bell tower on the top is closed step by step, it is not visible on the sidewalk in front of the building. The best viewing angle is on the Huangpu River or among the tall buildings in Pudong.
I was going to see the exhibition at Jiushi Art Museum. . But I didn't expect that the traffic control on that day had closed the door wherever it went. I was not happy! ! Think about it, now that you are here, just take a walk around the Bund~ The buildings near the Bund are all of the Renaissance architectural style~~ The appearance is a bit of a building. American classicism is now a landmark of the Bund. Up! !
mark it today.
The exterior is nice and better if you have the opportunity to go inside
