The Shanghai International Convention Center is located in the Lujiazui area of Shanghai’s Pudong District, directly opposite the Bund. Built in 1999, the center consists of a grand banquet hall, a press conference center, 34 multifunctional conference halls, and a luxury hotel. It was the site of the 2001 APEC Summit, which was a major event for China’s government. The center’s location directly on the waterfront means it has appeared in countless photographs taken from the Bund. It is an important landmark on the Shanghai skyline.
