About Shangqiu: Shangqiu is a historical and cultural city. The ancient city of Shangqiu was built in 1511. It has a unique style and is well preserved. It is listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit alongside the Yongcheng Mangdangshan Western Han Tombs. The gold enamel cloth which was unearthed from the Han Tombs was exhibited in the United States and Singapore, where it was quite a sensation. The Han Tombs are large in scale and very impressive. Experts of Han era tomb wall paintings have praised it as the "Dunhuang before Dunhuang". Shangqiu is also the ancestral home of Confucius and the hometown of Zhuangzi.
