We had an amazing evening at Gallo Nero. Our waiter's enthusiasm for food was matched by the quality of his recommendations. The gnocchi was exceptional and the stew was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel very relaxed. It was great value for money and I will be returning. This place was a highlight of our trip to Tuscany.
A fabulous evening sampling course after course of beautiful local produce and perfectly cooked dishes accompanied by good wines. Our charming waiter Lorenzo was a real enthusiast and explained each wine or food in good detail, answering many questions and giving us his full attention. The pasta specialities and beautiful home made bread were my favourites but then there were wonderful biscotti and several kinds of chocolates so all in all a perfect taste of Italy.
After stumbling upon your restaurant during a family visit to Tuscany in 2008 we were blown away by the food and setting, so when we were set to return to Tuscany in the summer of 2015 we were determined to find you again! Funnily enough your business card was tucked away in our ancient travel guide and had survived 7 years on the shelf! We were thrilled to find you again, tucked away in a quiet Siena backstreet it truly is a beautiful setting. The restaurant's architecture is stunning and the food is exceptional. Our party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed it first in 2008 and then again this summer - it will be top of our list when we return again in the future. Brilliant service and very friendly hosts, topped only by the earthy traditional italian food. A truly authentic italian experience.
We had the most wonderful dinner here last night. The restaurant is really lovely with a brick vaulted roof. Our friendly and knowledgable young waiter let us choose our table and was really helpful in recommending both dishes and accompanying wine. We had a great meal, the pumpkin gnocchi was light as a feather and so tasty. We had the boar stew and roasted Guinea fowl as main courses and both were delicious. We were also served by Rocco who really showed he cared. All in all a great experience.
The steak is really tender~ the portion is really not enough for a foodie like me~
