Big Island
247 Reviews
Also known as the volcanic island, the Big Island is an island in Hawaii's islands, erupted by five volcanoes. The top of Mauna Kea on the north side of the island is covered with snow all year round, so the locals call it Baishan. Here is a very good Mauna Kea Observatory that can simultaneously observe the stars in the northern and southern hemispheres. On the southeastern side of the island is the Kilauea volcano, which has been flowing out of lava for twenty years. The volcanic eruptions here are not accompanied by huge explosions and disasters like other places, but rather rather gentle. There are two airports on the island and Kona Airport on the west side, surrounded by more mid-to-high-end resort hotels, suitable for leisure vacations.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
291 Reviews
UNESCO World Heritage-Natural Site
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is home to two active volcanoes, Mauna Loa and Kilauea, and the entire park extends from the top of Mauna Loa all the way to the sea. A footpath will lead you through volcanic craters, deserts, and rain forests, with museums, rock paintings and accessible lava tunnels along the way. Architectural ruins of destroyed towns can also be sighted around the craters. Kilauea is a highly active volcano and its enormous crater resembles a giant cauldron in which scalding red-hot lava can be seen flowing in volcanic lakes, making it a true wonder of the nature.
Punaluu Black Sand Beach
123 Reviews
Punaulu Black Sand Beach is located on the east side of the Big Island, adjacent to the scenic town of Vic, accompanied by organaceous rock cliffs. The hot volcanic lava flows into the cold sea water. After the pushing and impact of the waves, the magnesium and iron minerals in the lava are broken and deposited, forming a unique black sand beach. It is also home to rare animals and green turtles.
