I ate here on a business trip to Swansea so I was dining by myself. I love trying different Indian vegetarian dishes so asked if I could just order a few vegetarian sides with a naan. The staff were friendly, chatty and made me feel welcome and like nothing was a problem. The food was all delicious, good value and not too oily as other reviews suggested. I did have all vegetable dishes though. The decor seemed fine to me, nothing fancy but a nice place to eat. I&#39;d visit here again and recommend it.

Oh my God! Now this place deserves a really good review!! We made a last minute booking for Sunday lunch and what a treat! That has to be the best Sunday lunch i have ever had!!! (Sorry mum!) You either need to be hungry or eat at leisure! Such a plateful!! Beautiful fresh vegetables (certainly nothing frozen! As per a previous review!!) Juicy meat and really tasty thick gravy! And don&#39;t even get me going on the cheesecake! Friendly warm welcome... wonderfully happy atmosphere... lovely wine and to top off.... a really tasty coffee! Thank you guys for a truly memorable lunch and we will definitely be back for more!! Highly recommended!

Have been coming here for a few years now. I am not one for fancy decor and frills. The food and service is always top quality. If you are after a good meal with extensive menu then come to the Maharani. The decor is dated but to me that is bottom on my list when having an Indian meal

Was here a few weeks ago with friends and all was good, however, Sat. Night curry with the wife was not so appealing. Sat in a draughty spot by the door, service was slow, and the advertised Perrier water on the menu was subbed with nondescript sparkling water from, apparently, the waiters car.???? Onion chutney with the poppadoms was somewhat dried out, but the popps themselves were lovely. I ordered the tandoori mixed grill, comes with plain naan, asked to sub for keema naan and got both.?? Tasty, though, no complaints about the mains. Service needs a polish, though.

Like we did. The Maharan is the middle of a trio of Indian eateries on St Helens Road. Every dish on offer at the sunday buffet was tainted by ?old oil. The place is grubby and could really do with a makeover, the decor looks at least 25 years old. A big slap on the wrist for me for not doing my usual research on TA.
