Taiping is located in the northern part of Luzhou and is the first city in Malaysia to be named after Chinese. It was developed in the early days by tin mines. It was once the capital of Chenzhou and was replaced by Ipoh in 1937. The city is also known as the rain city because the local rainfall is twice as much as in other parts of Malaysia. Built in 1881, the Taiping Dazhong Tower was built to commemorate the calming of the Ladrian War. The bell tower is a beige building with white arches, eaves and window reliefs, and a cock-shaped wind vane on the apex. The bell tower was originally built of wood and was later converted from stone bricks in 1890. The building was also used as a police station in Taiping City, and later became a fire station. It is also the first fire station on the Malay Peninsula. It is now a tourist information station.

Taiping Lake is located in the Taiping town of Zhangzhou. It covers an area of 64 hectares and was built during the British rule. It is the oldest lakeside park in Malaysia.
