When we get to Taiwan, the longest ride is along the Central Mountains. The longest stream in the meantime can often be seen - - Benan Creek. It originated from the main peak of Pingnan Mountain (3293 meters above sea level) in the Central Mountains of Taiwan Island and flows through Taidong City, Pingnan Township, Yanping Township, Luye Township, Guanshan Township, Haiduan Township and Chishangxiang Township. The main tributaries Luliao and Luye rivers are admitted to the sea near Taidong. Their estuaries and Zhiben, Lijia and Taiping rivers are alluvial delta plains in Taidong. The main stream of the Peinan River is 84.35 kilometers in length. It is the longest river in northeastern Taiwan. Its watershed area is 1603 square kilometers. Its flood discharge is 17,400 seconds cubic meters, with an average slope of 1:165. The landscapes on both sides of Benan Creek include canyons, faults, limestone topography, etc. Especially the geological landscapes on the West Bank downstream are unique and fascinating, which can be regarded as the national treasure of Taidong geology.
