Little Nyonya in Penang
Rent a Kebaya at the Nyonya Palazzo and you will get free entry into the Peranakan Museum (just next door)!
We had a good time exploring the museum (took so many photos and videos while pretending we are filming The Little Nyonya drama series with the family) and enjoyed some Peranakan food and kuehs thereafter.
Definitely one of the highlight for our Penang trip!

Pranglin Mall 1st avenue
#malaysia
The next time you are visiting penang, you can consider visiting the 1st avenue and the pranglin mall. The pranglin mall has been there for decades when we went there many years ago. Now with the newly opened 1st avenue mall, it really brings in the crowd. Similar to other shopping complexes, there are many retail outlets within the mall itself. There are many dining options to choose from. There is also a food court which serves a wide range of food at an economical and affordable prices at the higher level of the mall. We had our meal at the chicken rice restaurant located on the basement floor. We enjoyed shopping at both the malls which are just nearby each other. You can allocate an hour or two to visit the two malls.

Gardens at Temple
#malaysia
.There is a beautiful floral garden at the lek kok si temple. You would walk past the garden full of beautiful flowers. There are hibiscus, Roselle, marigold, mint flower, ginger flower, and many others. Resting at the sides of the garden are hundreds of Buddha statues surrounding the garden. There is hardly any shelter at the garden area as the plants require full sunlight to grow with good health. Bring along an umbrella or a hat when exploring the garden at the temple. You can take a grab from the town area to reach the temple for about 15 to 25 MYR depending on your location. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to reach here.

A whimsical 30-hr trip to Georgetown, Penang
#thingstodo
Itinerary guide from a georgetown first timer
(30 hours+ stay only)
So last 11.11 sale, i had a whimsical purchase of a good priced tickets (from Trip) to Penang from Singapore.
And so for one of the weekend in January i flew from Changi T4 to Penang Interantional Airport.
Upon landing, I was contemplating if i would take a Grab (RM 25+) from Airport to my Hotel or take the bus to the city center, luckily when i stepped out of the airport doors, i saw an incoming Rapid Bus 401E coming to the bus stop, and so i ran to catch it~ the fare was only RM 2.70, what a good deal!
The travel time was around an hour, and i alight at Komtar. Since is was past lunch time, i ate on one of the nearby shopping malls around. After i was done and shopped a bit, i took a Grab to my hotel nearby for RM 5.00.
So this was my plan for the trip:
After Noon Plans (after 5pm)
📍Penang Hotel
📍Penang Esplanade
📍Fort Cornwallis
📍Walk aound the city
📍Back to Hotel
📍Dinner and Drinks at nearby bar at Chula st.
📍Sleep
Morning Plan (8am to 12nn check out)
📍Walk around to see street arts (after sunrise)
📍Breakfast
📍Pinang Peranakan Mansion
📍Walk around some more
📍Hotel Check out at noon
📍Lunch at China House
📍Art Lane
📍Grab to Queensbay mall (for shopping)
📍Grab to Penang Airport
And that's it, that was how i roughly spend my trip~

The Kazan by The Volcano
A Malaysian venture started out by a group of four friends who fell in love with the original THE VOLCANO in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the Japanese influence in its menu still come through nonetheless regardless the locality. With the cheese toasts like 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 as the establishment’s forefront items, it gives the much desired eating experience from the cheese pull to the warm, soft and milky texture of the cheese filling.
Even for the cheese-free alternatives including 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 & 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁, the french toast never fails to shine with its sweet and buttery scent complementing the flavourful and tart filling.
With ample seating for varying group sizes and seating styles, it is a great location for an afternoon or evening chat over dessert. Looking forward to try its many other Japanese-inspired delicacies on the next visit.

The Prestige Hotel Penang
A lovely hotel located near the beach in Georgetown. From their rooftop swimming pool, you can get a great vista of the mainland and the ports across the straits. The hotel is not very tall but it is long. There are plenty of shops on the ground floor such as a convenience store, a cafe and a fine dining restaurant. I love their interior decoration. The is also a bar on the rooftop and an up and coming restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean. The lighting design is very nice, and it exudes warmth and serenity. The room amenities are standard but I do love the local snacks I enjoyed during my childhood years. The bed is comfortable and the sheets and linen are fresh. They also have a car park and guests park for free. The street is quiet in the evening despite the hotel's popularity.

The beautiful resort hotel in Batu Ferringhi Beach, Penang, Malaysia is perfect for couples' trips
On the beach of Batu Ferringhi in Penang, the ParkRoyal resort hotel under the Singapore Pan Pacific Hotel Group is so beautiful! We stayed in a Penang suite, the price of two thousand is quite cost-effective! It is very suitable for couples to travel and vacation. In general, apart from the slightly higher price of Shangri-La in Penang, everything else is quite cheap, which is an economical vacation destination!
ParkRoyal, Anantara, Kempinski, Niyagra, Capella, and Sukhothai all belong to GHA Discover, so there are also related member benefits! I, who is always sunny, finally encountered a heavy rain, and the sea view from the terrace of the suite is great! Looking forward to the rain clearing up soon~ I didn't expect it to clear up in the evening, and the next day was a sunny day!
The lazy afternoon~ The holiday time in Penang is too comfortable! After vacationing in Thailand for three months, I originally thought that I would be tired of seeing the sea when I came to the seaside in Malaysia again! The result is very magical, even though there are not a few guests in the hotel, I still feel very comfortable, quiet and comfortable, and it is a completely different vacation atmosphere from Thailand~ Come and have a romantic seaside dinner in the evening, the sunset and the evening glow are so beautiful that it is intoxicating!

From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted by the soothing sound of cascading water features and lush tropical greenery that set a tranquil tone. The hotel's landscaped gardens and pool area were an oasis of calm, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Whether I was lounging by the pool or enjoying a meal at the beachfront restaurant, the ambience was consistently serene.

Penang Street Art
Walk around George Town and you will find lots of murals and street art, some portraying the everyday life of locals, while some others are commissioned by local businesses. Some of these murals are 3D like, allowing you to take photos with them for memories.
It is definitely interesting to hunt for these street art when you are in George Town. There are also street maps, or you can just use the Google map to find some of these murals. However, some of them are fading and in not so good condition.

Penang Murals
One of the fun activities in Penang is to hunt for street art and murals. While exploring George Town, we took some time to wander around the alleys in search of the artwork and take photos. There is a fun collection of wall murals, paintings, and sculptures scattered around, and the most popular ones will have people waiting to have their photo taken. The art really highlights the creativity and fun spirit of Penang.
