My wife and I stumbled across this cafe while searching for a bakery in the the St. Mark's district. We were also trying to grab a quick bite, use the wash room and get back to St. Mark's Square for 2:00pm to join a guide tour of St. Mark's Basilica and the Doce's Palace. We didn't find the bakery which is suppose to bake some delicious authentic custard doughnuts. Once in the cafe we decided to 'act like the locals' and ordered refreshments and Cichetti by the bar. This meant we did not sit down on the tables but stood next to the bar to eat and drink our foods. Eating your food standing by the bar also is lighter on the pocket as it works out to be approximately 10% - 15% cheaper than ordering the same food and drinks sitting down on the table. I ordered some freshly egg and ham sandwiches (they remove the crust), cichetti and a custard tart plus 2 cans of diet coke. Also we got to use the cloakroom of the cafe afterward. The sandwiches and cichetti tasted very nice indeed and you could taste that the snatches and cichetti are freshly made daily. I can't remember exactly how much we spent at this cafe but I remembered that it was very good value for money (for Venice) because we did not occupy a table and this Cafe is in the centre of St. Mark's district - a brisk 5-10 minutes walk from the Doce's Palace.
