It took a minute for seafood to land in Shaw, the waves have washed up a tasty outpost on Seventh, steps away from Metro and its called Eat the Rich. Its a shoebox spot, but the drinks are righteous, the beers are extensive and refined, and the seafood is pleasing. Happy Hour is wonderful if you love pristine oysters, chilled vodka and great atmosphere. Not a large menu, just enough to take the edge off of a long day or an even longer night. Thoughtful service, generous drinks, and a modest price point for the exploding Shaw scene.

Very feel bar~ I ordered a glass of whiskey and the taste was very positive. I also met a handsome guy in a crooked country haha, and added WeChat. So recommend a single beautiful handsome guy to hit a peach blossom!

A local friend recommended to come over for snacks. The taste is very good. The small snacks inside are more local, sweet, not very big, poached egg chicken tastes good, and the quality is cheap.

I am very familiar with food from other West/Central African countries and living overseas, this is the one kind of food I miss so, whenever I pass through DC, I am always excited to find a great restaurant with similar dishes. Off the bat, as another traveler said, go for the food, not the ambiance. It seems as their name states, they do a lot of carryout business. Even if you are eating in, food in served in sturdy carry out containers which, makes it easier to wrap up any extra food to go afterwards. The restaurant itself has about 6 tables and can seat approximately 30 people. If it is your first time, they will serve you a little sample of all 6 items on the menu. Basically, the menu is different kinds of stews with a basis of leafy greens (spinach etc.), 1 tomato based stew and fried rice. They generally have either chicken or beef and sometimes goat! The stew is served over rice. For the more adventurous/experienced eaters, you can get the stew with fufu (yam based) or, gari (cassava). A google search should give you more information on fufu and gari. The portions are HUGE! In retrospect, one large stew can feed 2 people. We had the stew with potato leaves with goat meat and fufu-my 9 year old had his with chicken and ate half of it. We also had the peanut stew over rice with goat meat and my husband could only eat half of it. We went there for lunch and I was full through the rest of the day! The owner had a warm smile from the time we entered and really engaged my son. Our server was equally great. Next time I am in DC, I will make sure to stop by again.

We came for drinks, then sat down for some food. The pitchers of cocktails are strong and good. The fried oysters are perfectly done- crispy exterior but not overdone on the inside. The real star though is the order or Parker house rolls that come with delicious maple butter.

This place has a very limited menu that is all about oysters, but judging by prices, it is not a place to go when you are hungry. On the other hand, the variety of raw Oysters and Clams were fresh, large and very tasty, served with meurier and a mild cocktail sauce. After 9:00PM, they have a special on one type of oysters.
