The Parthenon is just down the street from Avalon Theater. Has good Greek food. Wait staff are efficient and don&#39;t rush you even on a Saturday night. Pleasant seating indoors and outdoors. Tables cloths inside, outside is less formal feel

I&#39;ve been to this neighborhood restaurant about 8 times and the food is good to very good, and the service is usually really good. They only had 3 waiters working inside and outside on a very busy Tuesday night. I felt bad for our waiter who was doing the best he could. Maybe it was unusual, but it was too slow.

Washington&#39;s selected Indian restaurant, but after entering, I felt that there was nothing to eat, so I ate cakes and a little rice set meal, which tasted more spicy. The environment can only be said to be generally the same, the decoration is a bit old.

Haven&#39;t been back to this restaurant in years, probably because the last time I had dinner there I thought the food was too bland. Also because it&#39;s an old restaurant that&#39;s been there forever and in a residential area near Chevy Chase circle, not close to any metro, so generally draws a local crowd which tends to be older. This time had a last minute family dinner there (well it&#39;s the favorite of one of the older relatives). At first we sat outside but it turned out to be a bit cold, so we moved inside. The interior looked brighter and better than I remembered, might have been repainted since I was last there, and also adorned more attractively with Greek themed decorations. It being early in the evening the place was not busy, so had a more relaxed ambience and not at all noisy. Didn&#39;t think the menu had changed much but prices were higher than I remembered. Made sure not to order anything that could be too bland this time so settled on a moussaka, which was quite well done and tasty. Some others had the crab cakes (market price at $38, the most expensive on the menu), so had a taste of that as well, and they turned out to be super good, the most lumpy I&#39;d ever had, solid crab meat with minimal filler. Kind of surprising because you wouldn&#39;t expect to have the best crab cakes at a Greek restaurant. Good size portions. Service was fine, no complaints. If you like lump crab cakes, this is a good place to have them. Suitable for special occasions as this is probably the only fine dining option in this area.

My husband and I met a few friends here for dinner. One of them had never had Greek food before, so we ordered the &quot;hot appetizers for two&quot; plate for the 5 of us to share. The stuffed mushrooms were nothing special, but the kalamaraki, dolmades, and spanakopita were delicious. The kalamaraki was exceptional; squid can be rubbery, but this was as tender as you could wish, and as light as if it had been baked, not fried. Everyone&#39;s entrees were good, too. My husband and I both got lamb, which they do beautifully here. He had the lamb with orzo, one of their standard menu items, while I ordered lamb with eggplant from the list of specials. It was every bit as good I&#39;ve come to expect from this restaurant. Our friends ordered spanakopita, moussaka and a chicken special (chicken in a sort of alredo sauce over pasta); everything was delicious. The one glitch was that our waiter seemed to be having an off night. Two of us ordered side salads that never came (we weren&#39;t charged for them), two of the soft drink orders got a little mixed up, and one of the entrees wasn&#39;t on the first bill we received. However, he was very friendly and otherwise helpful, and the servers are usually very attentive and accurate, so I think this was just a fluke.
