Mount Victoria is 196 meters high and is located on the east side of Wellington City. It was used as a lookout in the past. The Maori called it "Matairangi", which means a place to look at the sky. Now there is a viewing platform (MountVictoriaLookout) on the top of the mountain, which is a good place for a 360-degree panoramic view of Wellington and the beautiful harbour scenery. Mount Victoria is also the filming location for the first film in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
