Wuyuan is located at the junction of Jiangxi and Anhui Provinces. The scenery here is extremely beautiful. In the springtime the mountains are abloom with wild yellow rapeseed. In autumn, the maple leaves all turn red. Other than the natural landscape, Wuyuan's country villages are also worth visiting. Gray stone walls and white roof tiles are highly characteristic of the local traditional architecture. In combination with the simple local cuisine, many travelers are enticed to come here.
Wuyuan Huangling is a typical mountain village on the east of Wuyuan. Local villagers there have been using plaque bamboo sieve drying techniques to dry crops since ancient times. Every harvest season, the hundreds of scattered Hui style architectures in the sunshine and colorful harvests on the drying racks make up a splendid autumn landscape, attracting many photographers to come here for photography sessions.
Wuyuan Scenic Area has always been known as "China's beautiful countryside." The ancient villages here of Huizhou architecture left from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is beautiful here in Wuyuan every spring and autumn seasons. Spring golden canola flowers surround the ancient villages with white walls and black tiles, like classical Chinese ink paintings. In autumn, red maples and morning fog surround the ancient villages. Do not miss the unique "sunbathing in autumn" practice too.
Jiangling is located in the northeast of Wuyuan County, Xiaoqing in the south and Xitou in the east. It is a representative of the pastoral scene in Wuyuan. During the spring canola blossom season, you can overlook the canola fields while standing on the observation deck at the top of the mountain. There are also several small villages in the fields. The black-tiled, whitewashed houses of Huizhou are interspersed within the golden field. It is really beautiful.
Li Valley is a waterside village surrounded by mountains and located in the Wuyuan Scenic Area. Before the village lies a field of canola flowers which turn into a field of gold in the Spring. The village consists entirely of ancient buildings built in the Huizhou style, featuring elegant gray walls and white bricks and bridges over beautiful, flowing rivers. Most of the inhabitants of the village are descendants of Li Zhicheng the champion of the Southern Song Dynasty, and his former residence still stands today. Following the road behind the village into the mountains, we can gaze upon the majestic view of the Li Valley.
