Located on the South Bank of Qujiang Pool, close to Guocheng outside Chang'an City, surrounded by high walls. The garden covers an area of 30 hectares and returns seventeen miles a week. During the reign of Tang Zhenguan, Emperor Taizong gave it to his beloved son Li Tai. After Li Tai died, Emperor Gaozong gave it to the East Palace, which became the imperial court in Kaiyuan period. In this imperial garden, there are magnificent palaces such as Ziyun Tower, Caixia Pavilion and other fairy Hill pavilions built from the water side to the south bank highland.
Furong Garden is located on the west side of Huaqing Pool Scenic Area. On the site of Tang Huaqing Palace, it is an important part of the five major cultural scenic spots of Huaqing Pool. It centers on Furong Lake, goes north to West Gate Square of Huaqing Pool, south to Changshengdian, east to Jiuqu Corridor, West to Tianbao Garden of Huaqing Yutang Hotel.

On September 27, 2005, Furong Garden, the site of Huaqing Palace, was built and officially opened to visitors, adding more than ten new landscapes, such as "Changshengdian" of Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei "Qixi Alliance Oath", the pavilion of hot spring goddess, Furong Lake, Debao Tower, Guolao Pharmaceutical Hall and Royal Mingxuan.
