Xiangji Temple is located in Shenmuyuan, southwest of Weiqu Town, Chang'an District. It was built in the second year of Emperor Tang Zhongzong (AD 706) and was built to commemorate the famous Buddhist monk Shandao of the Tang Dynasty. Emperor Tang Gaozong Li Zhi gave the temple Buddhist relics and flowers for support. The name Xiangji Temple means to compare Shandao to Xiangji Buddha. Today, the Xiangji Temple has become a witness to the exchange of religious culture between China and Japan. The Tang Dynasty's Shandao Tower has undergone renovations. There are wooden ladders leading to the top of the tower. In the newly renovated hall, there are statues of master Shandao, tables, five offerings, bronze urns, and wooden fish presented by Japanese friends. The stone lamps presented by them are placed in front of the hall.
