The Tongan Confucian Temple is located on the west bank of Dongxi in Tong'an County. It was built in the Five Dynasties. The existing building is the Dacheng Hall rebuilt during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The current Confucian Temple has become a museum in Tong'an District, displaying more than 200 stone carvings and inscriptions collected from all over the county, with different looks, lifelike shapes, and exquisite craftsmanship. It is known as "Tong'an Terracotta Warriors".
The Tongan Confucian Temple was built in 933 AD. The existing building was rebuilt in the 32nd year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1768). The overall structure is basically the same as that of Confucian temples across the country. It covers an area of more than 4,000 square meters and a building area of more than 1,400 square meters. The main building is the Dacheng Hall, the roof is a beam-lifting frame, double-eaves Xieshan-style building, the roof is covered with tubular tiles, the granite pillars in the hall are very tall, the beams, buckets, etc. are meticulously crafted and decorated with colorful paintings, and the roof truss is stacked and staggered. The appearance is simple and simple, reflecting the steady and simple style of Confucianism. Tong’an Confucian Temple is located on the west bank of Chengdong River in Tong’an District, next to Tong’an Experimental Primary School and opposite to Tong’an Hotel. It is said that it was built in the Five Dynasties. It is estimated that it was built after the county was established in Tong'an, but it was destroyed later. Most of the things we see now are rebuilt during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Passing the archway of "prospering talents" is Qingyun Road, and climbing the steps is a short section of the ancient city wall. On the north side is the stone sculpture exhibition ground. Stone beasts, stone lions, stone horses, stone generals, etc., were collected from Tong'an from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. On the promenade next to the exhibition hall, in addition to the stone tablets, there is a wall of "Prayers for Learning". The students have their own wishes, trembling, sincere and fearful. The main building, Dacheng Hall, houses a statue of Confucius, and a plaque of "Master of the World" is hung on the beams, there are antique musical instruments on both sides, and there are statues of Confucius apprentices. There are two exhibition halls in the Piandian. There are not many exhibits, mainly pictures and texts. You can roughly understand the historical events and historical figures of Tong'an. During the Spring Festival holiday, the temple is quiet and quiet, and it takes less than an hour to stroll around slowly.
