Northern Buddhist Temple, also known as the Beishan Temple and the Tulou Temple, is located on the North Mountain in Xining and was built during the Northern Wei period. The architecture of the Northern Buddhist Temple is built on sandstone. The attic stands vacant. There are Buddha statues inside the caves. Each cave is connected with a hanging plank road and the structure is very delicate. The North Mountain where the temple is located is a special Danxia landform. It overlooks the city of Xining in the mountains and is a good place for hiking and mountain viewing.
