The Viburnum Temple is at the eastern end of the East Ring Gate Historic District. It was formerly known as Fanli Temple and is famous for its viburnum shrubs. When the flowers are in bloom between April and May there is a constant stream of tourists visiting the temple. The Viburnum Temple was built in the Han Dynasty, but most of the buildings you can see now were rebuilt in modern times. Written on the honorific arch at the entrance to the temple are the three Chinese characters "Fan Li Guan". After stepping through the honorific arch you will reach the mountain gate from where you can see the main hall of the complex, Sanqing Hall.
