The National Gallery of Armenia is on the upper floor of the National Museum. The collection of European art works ranks third in the entire Soviet Union, many of which are works of famous artists transferred from Russia during World War II. But most of the best works are still by Armenian artists, including the most famous painters in Armenia, such as Martiros Saryan, Yervand Kochar, and Ivan Ayvazovsky. The other three and four floors of medieval Armenian artworks are also very exciting. The most shocking is the large medieval frescoes taken from different churches in Armenia.
