This is an interactive park where you can experience and enjoy Miura Peninsula’s agriculture and the sea. In the park surrounded by the sea, there are flowers blooming every season, a farm where you can harvest vegetables in season, outdoor facilities such as a breathtaking go-kart course and grass sliding and a restaurant with the theme of “farm” and “sea”. Other activities include bread making and handicraft workshops and interacting with various animals such as capybaras and kangaroos at the Animal Village.
Travel tip
From mid-December to the end of March, the rape blossoms are in bloom for more than a hundred days. On a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji over Sagami Bay. Those who like sunflowers should consider a visit the park during July and August to see the vibrant flowers in full bloom and enjoy the sunflower-inspired menu.

#2024wish A nice wide park in the middle of farm country on the Miura Peninsula. This has a few big playgrounds for kids that just started walking to school-aged. Also has lots of other fun options like a steep hill to slide down on, a small petting zoo, as well as a small amusement area with a few rides like a Ferris wheel, and a merry go round.
Entrance to the park is free but parking is not (¥1000). Entry to the petting zoo area also is not free (¥320/adult, kids under 3 are free) as well as the amusement rides (prices vary depending on age and ride). There's also an area where you can throw a BBQ but you need to make a reservation ahead of time for most of the year, except for the winter months. There's also some small cafes around the grounds of you get hungry and lots of open space for a picnic should you decided to bring your own food as well.
Other than the lengthy drive (about 30 minutes from Yokosuka Naval Base), we love coming here and our toddler enjoys feeding the animals (especially the capybaras)! Definitely recommend on a nice day out!

Sarushima Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Sarushima
#thingstodo
I took the first ferry in the morning (9:30am) for a short 10 minute ride to Sarushima. Beware, there are no monkeys on the island! But, other than that it was a nice experience.
The entire island is easily walkable in less than an hour. There are several spots to visit of some historical significance but nothing overly spectacular. It was a nice activity if you’re in the area and have some free time but probably not worth making a special trip.
There’s a guided tour available for an extra fee. The restrooms were clean but only available at the visitor center.
Monkey Island in Yokosuka 😅
#2024wish
Entrance to the island is buy boat and the pier is next to the Mikasa. There will be a queue for the boat onto the island so I recommend timing your visit or going early. The island is picturesque so don't be surprised to see wedding or cosplay shoots going on. I personally saw a three or four shoots and the cosplayers were nice enough to let me take some photos as well. On a clear day, you might even be lucky enough to see Mount Fuji above the Yokosuka skyline. Take your time around the island and take in the silence from the bustling Japanese cities. Also, time your visit so that you can minimize waiting for the boat back as well.
In 2024, I want to visit this place again.
No human living island in Japan
#christmastrip
Sarushima (猿島, "Monkey Island"), is a small island located off Yokosuka, Kanagawa in Japan. It is the only natural island in Tokyo Bay. Sarushima was used as a battery by the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period, and after the Meiji Restoration in 1868, the island was developed as part of the Yokosuka Navy Yard.
Located just two kilometers from New Mikasa Pier, the island is accessible by a 10-minute boat ride.
Catch a boat from Mikasa Pier, a 10-minute walk from Yokosuka Chuo Station on the Keikyu Line. It is about 45 minutes to Yokosuka Chuo Station from Tokyo's Shinagawa Station.
The boat service connecting the pier to Sarushima only takes about 10 minutes, and runs daily. An entrance and boarding fee is required.
Sarushima (Monkey Island)
Sarushima means Monkey Island, but there are no monkeys here. It got its name during the Kamukura period, when a white monkey appeared and led a missionary to the island - who was trying to cross the sea but his boat got wrecked. That was the legend.
This is a small island off of Tokyo, and the only natural island in Tokyo bay.
Sarushima is a ten-minute ferry ride which starts from Mikasa Pier, that is adjacent to Mikasa Park, in Yokosuka.
The view of the city from up here is breathtaking.

Tateishi Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Beautiful Scenic Spot
#thingstodo
Beautiful scenic beach spot. On a clear day, especially in the winter, you can see Mount Fuji towering over the bay. This spot is great for a date! Especially when the air is clear and you can see all the way to Mt Fuji. Touches the Japanese hearts.
Parking tends to get full easily on days like that. We had a relaxing time there, listening to the waves and looking down at the marvelous sea color...
And when you go on a very very windy day, the sea is very rough….🌊
Tateishi Park

The park is not that big. You can walk through the whole place in less than 10 minutes. I don't really recommend going there just for going there. It should be combined with a visit to Marlowe's Don, a restaurant right next to the parking lot adjacent to the park. It has a great view of the bay and lots of rock formations to explore along the coast. You can also go swimming at the nearby beach.
In 2024, I want to come back here.
Mikasa Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Mikasa Park
#thingstodo
The park was very nice well-maintained has several spots that would be good for taking pictures. It also has a very long channel and at the back of the park is a pond that does water shows at certain times throughout the day. Overall I think this is a very beautiful Park to visit. Oh there were also signs that warned you about hawks taking your food....
Mikasa Park
#2024wish
This is a great park to visit. There are many sculptures and water features both in the park and leading up to the park. There is a water fountain show to music every couple of hours- and at night they add colored lights. There is also a theater and often they will have music. The battleship Mikasa is there and open for tours. I did not take a tour but friends did and they enjoyed it very much. I’ve included a photo with the times if the water fountain show.
I want to go here again in 2024.
Memorial Ship in Yokosuka
#2024wish
The highlight of my visit to Yokosuka - an informative and lovingly maintained icon of Japanese naval history. Staff were knowledgable and passionate and spoke good English. Highlight was the exhibit below deck dedicated to the Battle of Tsushima. Naval history enthusiast or not, I thoroughly recommend spending a few hours on board this magnificent and unique ship.
I want yo visit this again in 2024.
Kannonzaki Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Kannonzaki Park
#thingstodo
Huge park with lots to see. Several trails to take, some strenuous, others flat and easy. There's playgrounds, forest scenery, a beach trail, and a path through the old military battery. There are several restrooms available, which were relatively clean, and had vending machines for drinks and ice cream outside them. I had a great time walking along the beach and walk up to the lighthouse. Cute little place to visit.
Cape Kannonzaki
#2024wish
This cape is not so far from Yokohama and contains every outdoor entertainment and academic museums also. This cape consists of Kannonzaki Park,2 museums and small rocky beach.Beach is small and rocky but may be better than other beaches in japan which are extremely crowded. I've living in Tokyo and Yokohama nearly 40 years and I regret not coming here until now.
In 2024, I want to visit this again.
Kannonzaki Park in Yokosuka
This is the prefectural Kannonzaki Park that extends to almost all of Kannonzaki, sticking out Tokyo Bay. This park has hiking and trails, water front walking and beach sea glass. This is definitely one of the best places to have a picnic around Yokosuka.
This park is home to the Kannonzaki Lighthouse. It is the first Western-style lighthouse in Japan, and construction began on the Miura Peninsula on November 1, 1868. This lighthouse, designed by French designer Léonce Verny, has unparalleled brightness and greatly contributed to the internationalization and modernization of Japan.
Currently the third-generation lighthouse, built in 1925, lights up the sea.
