Construction started in 1970 and was completed and put into operation in November 1979. It is one of the large hydropower plants in my country and an important power source support point for the Northwest Hunan Power Grid. The power from the water plants is sent to Yiyang, Changde, Huaihua, Jishou and other cities. This is one of the few hydropower stations in China that can be visited by tourists.
