Fanjingshan is a unique place. Just make sure you plan the entire day when you want to walk up (start 9am) and take off at 12 at the latest when taking cable car. Walking, enjoying and queueing (yes..) on top takes time. Be prepared for crowds but at 5pm (one hour before the cable car suspend service) its getting empty and the indulging can unfold:)

This was one of the most memorable places I’ve ever visited. Mostly because of the shape of the mount itself and a temple right on the summit of it. When you finally make it to the top, you’ll see the actual altitude, which is 2300 m above the sea level give or take.View from the observation deck was stunning, mountains slopes going down the gorge in between them. Vivid green colour is everywhere around you, there is only the skyline where you can see the end of this green blanket. You have two options to choose from: hiking up the mountain or take a cable car and around a hundred of stairs to get to the scenic spot. Price of the entrance including the cable car round trip: 260 rmb. It’s really convenient getting to the Fanjing mount from Tongren city by bus or from Jiangkou town, which is within 30 minutes by bus. I spent 4-5 hours over there including my way up, cable car, stairs, seeing around at the scenic spot, queueing down the mount and way back by a cable car. So if you’re going to hike, it will take considerably more time.

Basically just a huge single huge rock on the top of the mountain, but it really looks fantastic. It's possible to hike up and down, or to take a cable car.The hike up is super exhausting, it consists mostly of stairs and the total height to walk up was equal to about 440 floors (according to my watch).There's a small tenple on the top of the mountain and another one next to it, and some other interesting stone formations nearby.The area was visited almost exclusivity by chinese tourists, so no-one ever spoke any english there.I visited in july, and had to wait around 3 Hours in the morning to get a ticket and bus inside the park to get to the start of the cable car and hike.

One more thing, tickets need to be grabbed in the morning, and there is basically a vacancy in the afternoon. Our ticket at nine o'clock was about five minutes in advance, and the ticket check also let us in. Masks, green codes, and ID cards are equally important. There are not too many people today, and most of the tourists in tour groups. It took about 5 minutes to queue up for the shuttle bus and reach the ropeway in 20 minutes on the winding road. The ropeway lined up for a long time, and it was about 10 o'clock when we got out of the ropeway. The route is generally down the ropeway, walking on the wooden plank road, leading to the mushroom stone, and then down to the Pudu Square, and then all the way down to the ropeway. To Mushroom Rock, you can go to Lao Jinding, and from Pudu Square to Xin Jinding, which is Hongyun Jinding. The overall road is well repaired, or it may be because today’s day is good, I feel that climbing is not difficult, and climbing the Hongyun Golden Summit is much easier than imagined. It's a pity not to go to Laojinding. Stop and go all the way, line up to rest and take pictures, the whole journey takes about 5-6 hours. There is a small shop in the scenic area, which sells water and snacks, which are quite expensive. It is recommended to go up the mountain if you are full, and bring your own dry food and water to supplement energy. The entrance parking lot is 15 yuan for two hours, with a cap of 35 yuan.

When entering the East Gate, it is recommended to take a direct cableway after the sightseeing car. If you don't take the cableway for a large physical consumption, it is expected to take three to four hours. After climbing a long step, you can reach the mushroom stone. You can choose the old Jinding or Hongyun Jinding. This road is relatively difficult to climb. Some places are narrower and steeper, and the road is slippery. Watch the signs, climb backwards, the middle of the climb down more difficult, can only climb to the top, as if life, sometimes do not give people the opportunity to turn back. It is said that the choice of climbing with the elderly is relatively easy. There are many attractions on the top. It is not recommended to climb this section if you are not physically strong or if you are older. There are large azaleas under the mountain, but they have not yet opened. It is recommended to go later, presumably the scenery is more beautiful and charming. The weather was a bit dark when we started climbing. After we reached the top, the Buddha was shining brightly. It was a feeling of purifying the mind. Friendship tips suggest sunscreen, wear gloves, and use them when climbing two tops. When you buy the tickets, you can buy them directly on the official platform of the scenic spot. You can choose the time period directly. You can choose the day (even if you choose the early and late problem is not big, you can buy five days in advance, and in the peak season you have to go in advance) rather than random tickets, go as early as possible, and there are too many people waiting in line at night.
