On our way around Yunnan we ran into this unique place. It’s unlike anything else. It is a large area with different activities to do. Most obvious one - strolling around and take pictures. The architecture of buildings is so unique and beautiful, that you’ll enjoy the moments looking around. There’s area with with restaurants and cafés, where you can recharge. There are also some hotels within the area where you can spend night. We were told that groups of artists often gather there and hold concerts/performances, however we weren’t lucky enough. The Art Museum located at Dongfengyun Scenic Area is a must see attraction while you are traveling to Kunming and is worth spending your afternoon exploring the area. The museum expounds on the interpretation of earth, space and architecture by “Luo Xu”, the architecture is made of bricks laid in a geometry manner giving an illusion of wine bottles or red flames giving a unique art form full of postmodernist’s elements, as the real inspiration came from kaleidoscope Luo Xu used to play in his childhood.. Looking inside the dome, each window gives a certain shadow at different angels such as a kaleidoscope. 🔥🔥🔥 The scenic area is 1 hour away by train, taking it from Kunming Railway Station to Mile, but trains are every 2 hours so book a day in advance. As soon as you arrive at Mile Railway Station, you can easily get a taxi from outside costing 20th and a 10 minutes drive. The red brick architecture is super good-looking. Here is Mile's iconic building—the Kaleidoscope Art Museum, which is entirely built with red bricks🧱, without using a single steel bar. From a distance, it looks like a mysterious oriental castle. Wearing a skirt or ethnic clothing for photos is incredibly photogenic, 💫 and the distribution of natural light sources throughout the building is even. Light, in the midst of half a cloud, is an especially important presence. Dongfeng Yun is a man-made scenic area designed by artist Luo Xu. It is said to have been built with over 7 million red bricks and is known as 'Little Morocco'. Depart from Kunming in the morning and drive to Mile. The whole journey is about 150 kilometers, which takes about 2 hours. Arrive at Mile at noon and go directly to the first stop, Dongfeng Yun Scenic Area~. Dongfeng Yun Scenic Area ticket: 60 yuan + round trip sightseeing car ticket 20 yuan, sightseeing car is optional, it's not big inside, it's not too far to walk into the kaleidoscope, but Yi Lan sincerely advises you to spend this 20 yuan, wait until you have finished visiting and taking pictures, you will know how important the return sightseeing car is, it's a bit difficult for me to walk out again~ The sightseeing car first stops at the colorful garden viewing platform. The flowers in winter have not been planted yet. If you walk down a little bit along the garden, you will reach the seal archway. This area is mainly a commercial area. You can have lunch here, and you can get full with an average of 20 or 30 yuan. Then continue to walk up to the kaleidoscope, passing by the star theater, in fact, this theater is usually empty, and it's also very beautiful for taking pictures. The key point of the scenic area is the kaleidoscope, which is very exotic for taking pictures. It's best to miss noon, it's too sunny, and the photos are better when the light is softer in the afternoon. Leave Dongfeng Yun, navigate to Huquan Ecological Park, and pass by Huquan Half Mountain Hot Spring on the way. If you like hot springs, it is recommended to book the Huquan Hotel here directly. The scale of the hot spring is indeed quite large and it looks very comfortable. The lake in Huquan Ecological Park is sparkling, and the shadows of the trees are whirling, giving a bit of a Hainan feel. Indeed, here you can experience the leisurely slow life of Mile, where children dig sand, adults fish and sunbathe, and time is wasted happily. Finally, while the Buddha City Mall is still open, I went to buy some fruits. The fruits in Mile are much cheaper than in Beijing, realizing fruit freedom~ In the evening, I went to Wenchang Street first. The newly built commercial street is full of lights and wine, mainly operating hot pot and barbecue, a bit deserted. Then I went to Jinxiu Flower Street. The next morning, I got up and went to Jinping Mountain to see the Mile Buddha. The ticket is 30 yuan, and the one-way sightseeing car ticket is 10 yuan. If you climb up, there are 1999 steps. Anyway, I must take a car up. Walk down the steps when you go down the mountain, and you can take pictures while walking. Keyi Town is in the same direction as Jinping Mountain, and it is very convenient to drive there. If you arrange the itinerary, these two places can be arranged in one day. Cars can only be parked at the ticket office below, and the 40 yuan ticket includes several entertainment projects. If you don't want to play and only go to the ancient village and watch Axie jump to the moon, you don't need to buy a ticket. The round-trip sightseeing car ticket from the ticket office to the village entrance can be purchased separately for 20 yuan. If you walk on the plank road, there is more than 2 kilometers from the ticket office to the village. But in fact, taking a sightseeing car is not as good as taking a bus. There are many buses from the ticket office to and from the village entrance, which are more frequent than sightseeing cars. We finally waited for the bus to come out without a sightseeing car, 2 yuan per person. Keyi Town is not big, it takes about an hour to go around, the yellow houses are very beautiful for taking pictures, it is very quiet and there are not many tourists, if you are not interested in ancient villages, you can not choose here. Before leaving, I went to the city to eat Ma's braised chicken rice noodles, which is good and worth a try. After eating, I ended the trip to Mile and set off for the next stop, Mengzi. A One-Day Tour in Mile Stay in a hotel in the university town close to the south train station in advance, and it's only a 2km taxi ride to the south station. Mile's trains depart on a rolling basis, taking 40 minutes. After getting off the high-speed train, take a taxi to Dongfengyun Scenic Area. There are free shuttle buses at the entrance of the scenic area, making the whole process smooth. There are various activity packages available at the entrance of the scenic area, and there's no rush to buy them online in advance. We just bought a basic ticket for 60 yuan, and actually, there's no need to take the scenic area tour bus. It's only about 3 kilometers for a complete loop, which is an easy walk. There are many attractions, but the core is the 'Jar' kaleidoscope exhibition hall. There are plenty of food options inside the attractions, and the prices are generally not expensive. There are performances at scheduled times, but overall, it's an entirely man-made landscape. We were quite lucky to have rare sunshine that day, making the photos not too bad. Gourmet: This 'Old Mile' restaurant in Mile is indeed cheap, and trying different snacks meant we ended up queuing from 4 pm onwards.

I've been to Yunnan 4.5 times, having visited Kunming and Dali. This is the first time I've discovered a place called Mile! 🚉Transportation: We set off from Wenshan, just navigate directly to the Dongfeng Yun scenic area, where there is a paid parking lot, and there are also places to park along the road for free. 🚅By train, there are many trains from Kunming to Mile, about 40 minutes from Kunming South to Mile, and about 1 hour from Kunming. 💰Ticket: 60 yuan per person, half price for people over 60 years old, sightseeing car 20 yuan per person ⏳Playtime: The scenic area is not large, but the architectural style is very unique, and every spot is very photogenic. Because this trip was solo, I strictly controlled my travel budget, and the place I stayed on the day I arrived in Kunming was 👉 Mile Dongfengyun Niu Duo Luo Music Farm I originally went for the night view of Dongfengyun Scenic Area🌃, but it was too late when I arrived, and I missed the sunset🌇 Dongfengyun was created by a talented artist from Mile, Yunnan, named Luo Xu. It is said that he was inspired by his child's doodles on paper and had a sudden idea to create this series of buildings. The buildings are all made of red bricks, without using a single steel bar or nail, forming an architectural complex with themes such as kaleidoscope, half a cloud, and seal. The construction of this building took only 300 days, using 300,000 red bricks, and built such a red brick arch structure that even architects couldn't help but marvel at. ⭕️ Dinner was at the Chinese restaurant of 👉 Dongfengyun Meijing Pavilion Select Hotel, mainly because I only got the rented car🚗 at 5:30 pm, and it was almost 8 pm when I arrived in Mile City. ⭕️ Meijing Pavilion Hotel is outside the Dongfengyun Scenic Area, just show your order🎫 to enter the hotel. ⚠️ After that, I had an extremely unpleasant dining experience, please avoid this restaurant⚠️ ⚠️ I walked into the restaurant from the lobby and there was no staff to greet me, not even a glass of water🥃 was poured, and I ended up pouring it myself; ⚠️ It took 15 minutes to take my order after sitting down, and only after asking several times did they take my order; ⚠️ It took 30 minutes to serve the dishes🥣 after ordering, and I was told that the service ends at 9 pm, it was the first time I finished a hot pot meal in 15 minutes; ⚠️ The table next to me even got the wrong pot base🍲❗️ ⭕️ It was already 9 pm after dinner, so I hurried to Niu Duo Luo to check in. It's really too good for photos📷 here, with blue skies and white clouds🌞 and plenty of light, but often you may have to compete with the aunties for a spot. Since the main body of the building is quite large and there are many people, you can bring a telephoto lens.
