Photos of Qilian Mountains

The Qilian Mountains are located on the junction between the western Gansu Province and the northeastern Qinghai Province in China. "Qilian" means heaven in the Xiongnu language, so Qilian Mountain means Tianshan in the Xiongnu language. The flowing water from the melting snow on the top of the mountain gave birth to the oases on the Gobi, such as Wuwei, Zhangye, Jiayuguan, Jiuquan, etc. on the north side of the Hexi Corridor, opened up the connection between the inland and the Western Regions, and the Silk Road came into being. Culture also comes from this. In the Qinghai area on the south side of the mountain, due to the barrier and retention of humid air and rainwater by the Qilian Mountains, there are fertile areas with lush water and grass such as Huzhu, Menyuan, and Qilian County, and the beautiful Qinghai Lake also exists because of this. Qilian Mountain is one of the most important mountain ranges in Northwest China, and it is also the most important landscape and cultural relics in the northwest, which are related to the existence of Qilian Mountain. The Qilian Mountains have a vast border, connecting with Altun Mountains at the west end and Qinling Mountains and Liupan Mountains at the east end, with a length of more than 1,000 kilometers. Not counting the scenic spots created by the Qilian Mountains, there are many scenic spots just to play in the Qilian Mountains, which are distributed in many areas in Gansu and Qinghai provinces.
