Holy Iveron Icon Orthodox Church

Harbin, the city was developed with the beginning of the construction of the Middle East railway 100 years ago, in the history of the city, Russian, railway and other elements are inevitably engraved in memory. The "St. Ivell Church" in front of Harbin Railway Station was once a military church in the Russian Far Eastern Military Region, originally intended to commemorate Russian officers and soldiers killed in the Boxer Movement and the Japanese-Russian War, and later opened a conservatory and orphanage here. Although after years of damage and reconstruction, the main structure is still intact in recent years of repairs, becoming a new landmark building in Harbin, and becoming a witness to more than 100 years of history.

St. Ivell Church (Holy Iveron Icon Orthodox Church), referred to as "Ivell Church", is located in the factory alley of Songhong Street, Daoli District, Harbin City (the factory alley was removed after the completion of the north square of Harbin Railway Station, located on the ground street), built in 1908, the area is 555.8 square meters. The church was originally a military Orthodox church in the Amur military district outside Harbin, with eclectic architecture, brick and wood structures, and the designer was Denisov. At 20 meters northwest of Iville Church, the church-affiliated orphanage built in 1924 is preserved, and Iville Church is the only historical religious building in Harbin that has been preserved with an affiliated building. During the Cultural Revolution, the five "onion head" domes on top of the Iville church were removed, but the building nougat was retained and long-term used as warehouses, which later became a Class II protected building in Harbin. In 2017, the North Square of Harbin Railway Station was planned and renovated, and a comprehensive square with the main body of Iville Church, integrating tourism, leisure and landscape functions, and the Church of St. Iville was renovated and became another landmark building in Harbin. It shows the historical style and architectural culture of Harbin.

Although St. Ivell Church is a bit vicissitudes and mottled, it is still difficult to hide the noble temperament that she and Harbin, the "Yasri" orphanage, the factory alley group of old buildings, these old Harbin people's soul deep memories will be awakened with transformation.
