The region around Guilin is arguably one of the most beautiful of all in this continent-sized country. It is centred around the Li River which snakes through lush green woodland, fertilising the patchwork paddy fields that lie beneath tall, stark karst mountains. Really fun for retirees. The worst thing about this experience was that we had to wait in a long queue. The rafting that we did lasted about 1.5 hours. We were in line at number 302, and we had to wait about 3 hours. I will say right away, it’s better not to wait on the spot, but take a walk somewhere, especially if you rent a scooter. By the way, there were points where there was a queue of 700+ people. The rafting itself went well: beautiful views, calm walking of the boat, I wanted to sleep. I heard from some people conversations that passengers at the end of the journey were asked for money for being photographed or just a tip. There are multiple entrance gates to Yulong River and the entrance fee varies by season from 200-320 rmb. Attractions - Yulong River rafting is a must-experience activity when paying a visit to Yangshuo. Taking a bamboo raft to drift gives you a special experience of drifting and a more exciting experience than before. The experienced boatman takes you into the wonderful green world-green hills and clear water. During the drifting, you can not only enjoy the natural scenery, but also get acquainted with the daily life of the locals and some ancient buildings, such as Fuli Bridge built in Ming Dynasty, etc. Hotels - There are hundreds of small inns and hotel to choose from in downtown Yangshuo. Bamboo rafting is considered the finest way to see these thousands of karst of little mountain in Yangshuo. ❤️ The sail will take like 45mins ~1 hour depends on the route you chose. I did the Yulong river route. Paid 160rmb for the bamboo raft ride. I booked it on one of those "pink jackets ladies" in West Street. The payment includes them giving us ride to go to the attraction and wait for us to finish the sail and bring us back home to where we stay. The Yulong River is a small tributary of the famous Li River in Yangshuo. After doing our research on the boating experiences on each river we opted for Yulong River. We were not disappointed. The scenary during the bamboo boat tour is stunning. Getting There🚙🚤🚲 - to get there we joined a small tour group through trip.com. The cost was 160RMB pp including one way transfer from our hotel to the river as well as boating tickets. We booked one way transfers and rented bicycles and cycled back through the ten mile gallery (also a really beautiful experience) Attractions🗻🛥️ - the Yulong River was really amazing. We arrived early in the morning and the river was so quiet and peaceful. The boat captain's are friendly and feel safe. There wasn't any motorized boats on the river so it was really quite. The boating experiences was about an hour which was enough time to take in all the sights. Food & Restaurants🍦🍪🍢 - make sure you have a good meal before going.
