Be prepared to do a lot of climbing and walking, because it is build on a mountain, so you will definitely get your fitness steps from here.
If you are into artifices and ancient culture, then you should definitely stop by this place and experience what it has to offer. Besides buildings and lakes, the place also has small stalls and shops where you can get something to eat and also buy some souvenirs to take back with you.

At ebb tide, the slanting moon over the night river, a few flickering lights mark Guazhou.
Xijindu, also known as Jinling Ferry, has a long history spanning five dynasties, and it is a place with many ancient relics, including a small stretch of road that offers a 'thousand-year view'.
Xijindu, different by day and night, just a slight climb up the hill allows one to overlook most of the district, with its beautifully arranged houses.
The ruts on the stone-paved road tell stories of the past, and at the end of the ruts, life continues as it is today.
It's raining today, a bit cold, and there are few tourists, with most shops not open. Perhaps that's why I love this place. The closed shops either have retro wooden doors or quiet and beautiful facades. If the weather were good and there were many tourists, it would probably be no different from Lijiang or Zhouzhuang.
Although the weather is not good, I like the set of photos I took; the wet alleys have a certain feel to them.
The advantage of the off-tourist season is the absence of people, but the shops close early too, and because of this, I walked into an exceptionally quiet Xijindu. Slowly feeling the accumulation and changes over a thousand years.

The Jinshan Temple is a popular Buddhist temple attraction in Zhenjiang. If you are fan of Chinese architecture and ancient culture, this is the right place to go.
This temple was initially established in Eastern Jin dynasty (323-325 BC), later became a Taoist temple. Fomerly known as Longyou Temple, became Jinshan Temple during Yuan dynasty. This temple was classified as national key Buddhist temple in 1983.
This temple presents an architectural complex of buildings, halls towers and the special 36m octagonal Cishou Pagoda in the top of the hill. The view from the summit is magnificent. Might be difficult for some people to reach til the summit of the hill, nevertheless the beautiful lake in the base of the temple presents an additional opportunity for a joyful walk.

Jinshan Temple
Jinshan Temple has been destroyed and rebuilt seven times in history. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, a high monk named Pei Toutuo, who is the famous monk Fahai, came to the temple.
In the third year of the Dazhong era of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (849 AD), the prince was suffering from a serious illness that could not be cured by medicine. Pei Xiu, the prime minister at that time, donated funds to build the Mi Yin Temple (located within the territory of Ningxiang County, Hunan Province), and sent his own son Pei Wende to become a monk in place of the prince to practice and dispel the disaster. Pei Wende became a disciple under the founder of the Zen Weiyang sect and the abbot of Mi Yin Temple, Master Lingyu, who gave Pei Wende the Dharma name 'Fahai'.
Later, Master Fahai traveled around the world and came to a desolate forest on Mount Fu in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, where he practiced Zen meditation. The local believers told Fahai that this place was once the ancient Ze Xin Temple from the Jin Dynasty. Fahai found the remnants of Buddha statues in the desolate forest, felt a spiritual response, and vowed in front of the Buddha to restore the ancient temple by burning a section of his finger as a pledge.
While opening the mountain and digging fields, Fahai accidentally unearthed a batch of gold and handed it over to the then governor of Runzhou, Li Qi. Li Qi reported this to Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. Emperor Xuanzong was deeply moved and decreed that the gold be given directly to Fahai as an imperial provision for the construction of the temple, and ordered the Ze Xin Temple to be renamed 'Jinshan Temple'. Fahai was honored as the 'founding patriarch Pei' of Jinshan Temple.

Jiaoshan offers a scenic retreat brimming with vitality
A travel blogger wrote it well: Jinshan has a myth, Beigushan has a history, and Jiaoshan has a culture.
Take the bus to the Jiaoshan Scenic Area station, and right off the bus is the south gate of Jiaoshan, where the ferry docks. The area is not large, akin to a small park, and a stroll for 2-3 hours is quite fitting.
Passing through the mountain gate, the incense at Dinghui Temple wafts gently. Beyond the cliff carvings, robust and tender, they subtly grace the cliffs weathered by time. Ascending the steps, the grandeur of the pavilion is obscured by the surrounding dense forests and bamboo, and the once open view is no longer visible. The Wanfo Pagoda is temporarily closed for maintenance, but as a landmark, it remains a popular subject for photographers.
After passing the Xijiang Tower, circling back to Biefeng An, and descending the steps, a small path leads along the river behind the mountain, directly back to the cliff carvings, and then via the Jiangshan wooden walkway back to the ferry dock. It is sunset, and the journey is exceptionally beautiful.
Jiaoshan, surrounded by water on all sides, floats in the river, likened by the ancients to a floating jade. I think it is perhaps a small piece of jasper, petite in form but broad in spirit. With an elevation of just over 70 meters and a modest size, it is indeed a small piece of jasper.
